This is because of an additional outcome of the championing for renewable energy (supposedly "to save the planet") is that there are a wide variety of new environmental and health problems caused. For example, citizens within 2 miles of wind turbines are constantly abused by infrasound, which has been extensively documented to cause adverse health effects.
When presented with the scientific proof of these, the climate alarmists say something absurd like "these are necessary and unavoidable consequences of the war to save the planet". But the hitch is, as you say, they are NOT saving the planet.
This is a cause designed to appeal to people: 1) who are not technically well-versed, and 2) who have limited critical thinking skills.
Very well said. I am an educator and always trying to help my students understand the complexity of this and other issues. I also want them to understand how to evaluate arguments. Do you have links to the sources for your data? This would help strengthen their understanding of this critical viewpoint. Thanks.
For all you fellow energy geeks, check out the Canadian enterprise known as "Westshore Terminals". It operated the enormous terminal at Roberts Bank Superport. It was (and as far as I know remains) Canada's busiest coal export terminal, with capacity on the order of 33–36 million tonnes per year. Its customers included Teck Resources, as well as U.S. coal producers shipping through Canada. Coal arrives by both Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway before being loaded onto Capesize vessels bound primarily for Japan, China, South Korea, India, and Taiwan.
How exactly have we prevented Africa from developing reliable sources of energy? The west has provide that Continent with billions of dollars in aid that dictators have absconded. I fail to see how this is Colonialism.
If we help them build the energy in Africa? The biggest problem is that in post-Colonial Africa, the infrastructure has gone to waste, for lack of maintenance.
If we don't fix that, efforts to provide them with energy will be for naught. The only people who profit then are the big energy corporations.
